After thorough discussions, Renaissance Academy’s administration team, along with myself, have decided to suspend our fall athletics for the 2020 season. This was not an easy decision as we looked forward to the opportunity to begin competition as members of the Bicentennial Athletic League as well as PIAA. This was also going to be our inaugural season for varsity football, which our school put a lot of work into over the past year.
Our School Board and Administration, and considering our school community, made the decision for Renaissance Academy to begin the school year with remote learning. As a charter school that enrolls students from over 20 different school districts, we have to prioritize the health and safety of our school community as well as the communities that our student’s reside in. With our move to remote learning to protect the health and safety of our students, families, faculty and staff, we felt it was contradictory to then allow for on-site athletic events.
Some of the varsity coaches will still be holding optional team workouts throughout the fall season, beginning the week of August 24th through October 30th. Student-athletes who wish to participate in this workouts must be registered on Family ID and completed the COVID-19 Waiver Form. More information will be sent out to regarding these workouts and each teams dates.
